Praising God at Living Proof Live

The Princess and I attended Beth Moore's Living Proof event near us last weekend. It was an amazing weekend filled with all kinds or reasons to praise God.

Here are a few in no special order...

The amazingness started with the fact that the Lord provided us tickets. We had determined that unless God provided tickets we were not going to go. This as been a crazy year for us finacially, but we knew that if God wanted us there, he would provide and he did through a siesta scholarship on the Living Proof blog.

Praise God.

The second amazing thing was seats on the fourth row, right smack dab in the CENTER!

It was hard to get a good picture of her, because she never stops moving!

She shared a great message from Duet. 10 on "Holding Fast". The princess and I both thought that it was just what we needed.

That would be a second Praise God!

The Princess and I had a wonderful time. Nothing is better than seeing your child embrace God. Sharing this weekend before she heads off to college was just the best. That girl is going to change the world for Christ.

That would be another Praise God!

I got to meet up with a friend I made in Houston last year at the Scripture Memory Celebration when we met as total strangers sharing a rental car. It was so great to see each other. In a crowd of 9,400 people we were texting trying to find each other only to realize that we where on the same row!

Praise God for friends! And technology!

I also have to say that the music was some of the best I have ever heard. What a wonderful time of worship.

Praise God for Travis and the praise team!

It was a wonderful time and I am so thankful that God made it all happen!

Last Day of School

The Princess doesn't graduate for two weeks, but today was her last day of school.

Despite missing over 30 days of school this semester due to her lupus, she had all of her work made up and her grades were excellent, so she doesn't have to take finals (or be at school for the reviews!)

Here is a little trip down memory lane!

It Is Finished!

The Princess received this frame from her grandmother when she started Kindergarten. Tonight I placed the last picture in it!

Where has the time gone?

Today The Hero asked me when I was going to blog again.

Good question.

Life has been crazy.

The computer has been on the fritz.

And when it is working, I always have to give it up, because in this century...a computer is needed for homework!

I will leave you with proof that we are all alive and well...

Graduation is in 16 days.

I promise to be back soon!

Let the New Year Begin!

Today is not just the start of a new year. It is also the start of the 2011 Siesta Scripture Memory Team!

I have been looking forward to this all year.

I participated in the 2009 team and it was life changing. In fact when the year was up, I was inspired to start this blog. I talk about that here. When I look back through the spiral that holds the verses for that year, it is like looking through a diary. I remember what I was going through at the time that caused me to pick those verses and I can remember how God met those needs.

Memorizing scripture was not something that I actively did before. I learned a verse here or there, but it was not something that I had committed to doing regularly. The beauty of doing it with a group is that you have some accountability and goals. Last year I didn't memorize nearly as much when I was doing it on my own.

Today was the day to start by picking your first verse. This year The Princess is joining me and I liked her first verse so much, I decided to make it my first verse of the new year as well.

I thought this verse would help me to remember how important God's Word is in my life and keep me motivated through the year.

It is not too late to sign up! Just pick a verse, go to Beth Moore's blog and sign up, then get a spiral of index cards and start memorizing.

Don't get too worried about what verse to pick. It is God's Word and all of them are life changing! If you are new to this I would recommend to start small so that you don't get overwhelmed and stop. Some of my verses last time (and will be this time) were only one sentence long. Those are often the ones that will be the most effective, because you can say them over and over in your head when you need them. Just pick something that you need reminded about right now and let it change your life!

"For the Word of God is living and active.
Sharper than any double-edged sword,
it penetrates even to dividing
soul and spirit, joints and marrow;
it judges the thought and attitudes of the heart."

Where has December Gone?

I can not believe that this month has only a few hours left! I had such great intentions of blogging more, but life is busy and here I sit wondering where the time has gone.

Nevertheless, here is our month in a nutshell:

Twenty years ago, it seemed like getting married in December was a good idea. It was nice that first year, however, most years we just promise to celebrate in January. But with this year's milestone anniversary, we decided to let Christmas organization take a back seat and celebrate our 20th anniversary in style. We took a trip to Charleston and had a wonderful time.

We came home to find out that our trusty van with 189,000 miles on it was DEAD. I had prayed that it would last until everyone was out of high school and my people hauling days were behind me, but I guess God said no. Actually he said, "NO!"

The silver lining was that the guys at the garage we use let the boys and their friends come have a little fun before they took it to the salvage yard...

They kept the grill to pass around to each other for the "He-Man Award"!

Thrown into the usual Christmas events, we had two sets of company come into town. First my parents came for an early Christmas.

The kids were excited to get to open some presents early!

The boys couldn't wait until morning to try out their new roller blades.

While they were here, I had them walk me through making my first turkey. We have spent most of our married life celebrating the holiday at someone else's home, so I had never done one. Also, my mom is famous for her cornbread dressing and I needed to learn how she does it.

In the middle of our turkey dinner, The Captain announced that he had his finger stuck in a napkin ring and couldn't get it out. I could give you the hilarious details, but for the sake of time, I will just say that a visit to the local fire station was needed for the jaws of life.

Just kidding about the Jaws of Life, but they did have a handy little tool!

He was smart enough to know to laugh about it, because it was on his brother and sister's Facebook statuses before we could finish dinner!

We also found our favorite Christmas lights of the season:

Then it was time for Grandma and Grandpa to head home and we had a couple of days to celebrate with just the five of us.

Which pretty much meant that we never got out of our pajamas.

I threw together our annual Christmas letter on Christmas Eve. It was the latest I have ever gotten it out. Our address list was all messed up, so I know that some of you didn't get a letter that should have. I am trying to fix it, but since I already mailed what we had on Christmas Eve, now I don't even know who we did send them to! If we missed you, I apologize!

Here is the picture we sent out this year:

We kept getting told we would have a white Christmas, which I found very doubtful. Most of the people around here say they have never seen a white Christmas, but Christmas evening it started to snow! The kids headed out to play in case it was gone by morning!

Next, my sister and her family came on the 26th.

It was their first time to visit since we moved to the Carolinas, so we had fun showing them around. They thought it was warm and I thought it was cold, so I now know it only takes one year for your blood to thin and become a southerner. (I also made cheese grits for Christmas breakfast, so I think it is official!)

On their last day here, we took the light rail into Uptown Charlotte to look around. The cousins enjoyed their togetherness. They are really growing up.

They used to beg for Happy Meals, but this time they all wanted to stop at Starbucks!

While we were looking around, the boys found next year's Christmas cards:

I vetoed the idea, but maybe I should have bought them for a head start on next year!

May the Force be with you!
